Dry Bones

Ezekiel 37:1-2 AMP
“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and He brought me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones. He caused me to pass all around them, and behold, there were very many [human bones] in the open, and behold, they were very dry.”

Hello YOUBLNG family, welcome to another blog article. I am grateful that I am back, and I miss this part of my life so much. To God be the glory for this ministry.

Have you ever experienced a season of dry bones? Where everything just seems not to be going forward, feeling stuck in the same thought pattern, wanting to escape but somehow finding yourself in the same place?

There are times in our lives when we might experience dry seasons, but that is not final. Dry bones can represent the current state of your life - where you do not know what’s next for your life, or perhaps you know the promises that God has made about your life, but are still struggling to believe that anything good might happen. You may be a school or university/college student and feel fear gripping as you don’t know if you’ll make it. You may have found yourself stuck in your faith, lost the zeal you once had for the Lord, allowing fear to make its home in your heart, and failing to get back up and on track. These dry bones could represent so many things or situations in our lives, including, yet not limited to, the ones mentioned above — but the reality is that these bones are dry and without life in them — that’s the bottom line.

For the past few months, I have experienced dry seasons in my life, being stuck in a pattern of negative thoughts, engulfed in the fear of the future, focusing on every difficult situation rather than God’s faithfulness and goodness. I was getting comfortable in living a life below what God has called me to - and in all these, He remains faithful. Patiently and skilfully working on me, moulding me into the image of Jesus and waiting for me to be obedient. With my eyes focused on Him and the right people He has placed in my life — community. I am learning to live again, but this time around with Him. So no matter what that may look like for you, the good news is that —we’ve been called to a greater life with Jesus.

Ezekiel 37:3 AMP
“And He said to me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” [1 Cor 15:35]”

Can the bones in your life come back to life again? Can your situation change? Oh Lord God, You know — and He surely knows ‘cause His Word says that He knows the plans He has for you (“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV) - so the answer is YES - the dry bones in your life aren’t supposed to remain like that forever because God has a greater plan for your life beyond your imagination. The LORD is not done with you yet. Do not look at the desert of your life and make up your mind that it is over (“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV)—  so whatever situation you’re facing right now, it is not final, and you have the choice not to make it final — put your trust in the One who is faithful to His Word.

Ezekiel 37:5, 10 AMP
Thus says the Lord God to these bones, ‘Behold, I will make breath enter you so that you may come to life. So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood up on their feet, an exceedingly great army. [Rev 11:11]

If you’re at that point where you feel as though you’ve come to the end of your rope, don’t lose hope yet. The Lord is breathing on your life again. There’s good news for you — it is not over until He says it is. Today, God is breathing on your life again, and He needs you to align your heart with His Word. Have you felt like you couldn’t walk further? All your bones may appear dry - but the LORD is not done with you — don’t give up on yourself. He holds the power of life.

We serve a God who is in the business of restoration — He only needs you to avail yourself and trust in Him.

It is very easy to lose joy when faced with dry or challenging seasons in life — don’t begin complaining, this will open a door to the enemy who will present to you on a platter more reasons to complain, hate your life, be more frustrated, and make you doubt the goodness of God. The apostle Paul encourages us to always rejoice despite the situation (“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!Philippians 4:4 NIV) and goes on to encourage us not to be anxious but to present our requests to God with thanksgiving (“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:6-7 NIV) don’t lose hope, begin to praise the LORD for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do.

Do not despise your life right now - ask the Holy Spirit to show you what He wants you to learn through the season.

Where your own efforts end — perhaps it is a call to surrender to God and let Him prophesy over your life, let Him breathe over your life again. I pray that this blog article has brought light to your situation and that you will experience God in a new and beautiful way.

Love & Peace Fam✌🏾
